It's not free bloody advertising!

PR, public relations, perception, reputation, publicity... there are just so many definitions and facets to PR that make it so incredibly difficult for people to understand.

At Lava, we like to keep things simple. For us, PR is about talking to the people you need to reach. We channel our conversation through the media that they like, whether it be online, trade press, regional or national newspapers, TV, radio, magazines or Twitter. The important thing is to say things in the right way so the people you need to talk to can understand the message.

But it's not all one-way. If you like the sound of your own voice then move along - you're a bore! You need to listen to what your stakeholders, the media, shareholders, customers and non-customers have to say too. How else will you find out what you need to be doing in order to succeed?
