Luckless lovers in search of Mrs Right should head to Yorkshire.
The county has been identified as a dating hotbed with three women to every man currently on the lookout for love.
Rural online dating agency www.kissinggates.com <http://www.kissinggates.com> needs more men to join its books to satisfy the demands of its Yorkshire women who can’t find Mr Right and are having to venture to neighbouring counties, where Kissinggates.com has more registered single men.
More than 64% of women from Yorkshire surveyed by Kissinggates.com said they have dated someone outside of the county and just over 50% of them have travelled for more than two hours to meet someone they met online.
Eighty-seven percent of those who took part in the survey would ideally like to meet someone within 30 miles of where they lived and 48% claimed to have considered relocating to somewhere that offers more opportunities to date.
James Vestbirk, director of Kissinggates.com said: “One of the benefits of online dating is that you can search further than your local village for friendship or romance. But I’m amazed at just how far and wide women who live or work in the Yorkshire countryside have been looking, in the hope of meeting someone special.
“I’m sure Yorkshire has plenty of single men. But it seems that that the hard-working, countryside way of life doesn’t always allow time for long lunches spent on the internet or maybe these men aren’t sure that they might meet someone in their local area online, so unfortunately rural love seems to be suffering in the county.
“As a young, single farmer myself, I know first hand the difficulties of meeting new people outside of my small social circle, which is why I launched Kissinggates.com last year. It’s been great to make contact with so many single people living nearby, many of them are now good friends. I just might never have met them working on the farm all day.”
