Lincoln’s cultural quarter will become an open air gallery next month as the first in a series of Artists Markets is staged.
Organisers Lincoln Business Improvement Group (BIG) is inviting county arts and crafts enthusiasts to participate in the first of four Artists Market.
Funding received from European Regional Development Fund means the event on Sunday 29th June will be the first of four to be held in 2008.
The market will be staged on Steep Hill on the edge of Lincoln’s Cultural Quarter.
Lincoln BIG and partners, arts consultant Nicki Gardner and Creative Solutions Ltd are confident that the events will attract exhibitors and visitors from across the county and beyond.
“Lincolnshire is home to some really exciting artists and craftsmen who produce some amazing pieces and we want to celebrate this,” says Rachel Hanson of Lincoln BIG. “We’ve secured European funding which will allow us to stage four Artists Markets this summer. Hopefully, this year’s events will attract sufficient numbers of exhibitors and visitors to make them a viable proposition for next year and beyond.”
As well as Sunday 29th, further Artist Markets will be held on 27 July, 31 August and 28th September, with plots costing as little as £15. Artists, designers and other crafts enthusiasts wanting to participate should contact Nicki Gardner on 07731 883405 or email nicki.gardner@btinternet.com.
