Going green could be the answer for city centre businesses looking to lower their running costs.
A new initiative designed to reduce the amount of waste Lincoln businesses send to landfill could save them thousands of pounds each year.
The Lincoln BIG Recycling Deal, which launched this month, is open to city centre businesses and members of the Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce. The new eco initiative will allow free disposal of recyclable materials or collection at reasonable fees.
Businesses opting to have their waste collected will pay as little as £2.50 per 240 litres of separated waste.
The BIG Recycling Deal is a joint campaign between Lincoln Business Improvement Group (BIG), Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce and Lincoln’s Urban Recycling Ltd.
Matt Corrigan Chief Executive at Lincoln BIG believes the new deal will offer a real incentive for businesses to recycle more of their waste: “What many people don’t realise is that unlike households businesses are not allowed to dispose or recycle their waste at civic amenity sites. There are many businesses who really want to recycle and with the Lincoln BIG recycle deal it’s never been easier and as cost effective to do so.
“Now, they can either take the separated waste to Urban Recycling and tip it for free or rent recycling bins, barrels or bags and have Urban Recycling collect them.”
Wayne Isard Operations Manager at Urban Recycling Ltd comments: “For some years now we’ve been promoting recycling to the people of Lincoln and we know that businesses, especially small ones, often find it difficult and expensive to dispose of their waste. We’re confident that this new initiative will ensure that even more of the city’s waste is recycled.”
