Businesses wanting to help brighten up the city centre have until the end of the month to register for this year’s Lincoln in Bloom.
The summer-long campaign which sees hanging baskets, barrier displays and floral cascades erected in the city centre, is starting to be installed and time is running out for those wanting to take part.
The floral displays are designed to help businesses bloom in the busy tourist season, attracting more people into the city centre and making sure it’s a pleasant place to shop and relax in.
This year’s campaign is set to be the most successful ever with high profile city centre businesses such as the Lincolnshire Co-Op, Holiday Inn and the Bailgate Area Guild all supporting the campaign.
Lincoln in Bloom is also branching out this year. Network Rail has sponsored 25 baskets meaning High Street businesses located south of the railway line will be taking part for the first time.
The baskets are available on a first come first serve basis so retailers wanting to brighten up their shop front need to contact campaign organiser Lincoln Business Improvement Group (BIG) as soon as possible.
“Lincoln is a hotbed of activity in the summer months with people coming from all over the world to see what our city has to offer,” says Matt Corrigan Chief Executive of Lincoln BIG. “Lincoln in Bloom is all about making sure the city centre is as pleasant as it can be and encouraging people to stay around for as long as possible.
“I would urge people to order their baskets now before it’s too late so that we can ensure the city is brighter and more fragrant than ever before.”
Businesses wishing to help brighten up the city can email inbloom@LincolnBIG.co.uk or call Lincoln BIG on 01522 545 233.
