MowerMagic encourages children to get gardening

Posted in Mower Magic on March 3rd, 2009

Children in the UK are being encouraged to get outside into the garden this spring, and enjoy a new range of outdoor games and equipment from online garden retailer MowerMagic.co.uk.

Earlier this week the national media carried the news that high street retailers were to draw up new clothing sizes, in response to the growing number of overweight and obese children.

John Hall, Managing Director of MowerMagic and garden machinery expert said: “With the news this week about companies, such as Next and Monsoon, re-measuring children to re-define average sizes, and with research revealing that one in three British children is now classed as overweight, we wanted to help parents to encourage their children to get out into the garden and either play with their friends, or try a spot of gardening rather than staying inside in front of the TV.

“This is why we have introduced our new For Kids! range of outdoor products. The range features huge inflatable paddling pools, giant garden games such as snakes and ladders and BIG4 the intense strategy game, croquet kits, and a range of ride on classic pedal cars.

MowerMagic.co.uk also offers a range of children’s gardening equipment to help encourage children to get involved in the garden. As well as offering tools such as wheelbarrows, trowels, forks, watering cans and gloves, John Hall is keen to offer practical advice for parents on how to encourage interest in the garden: “As well as these kid-size gardening tools, allow children their own space in the garden so they can grow something for themselves, or allow them to work alongside you.

“Another way of getting children involved and interested in gardening is to grow some plants indoors before the main growing season begins. Grow them in a clear cup to show your child how plants grow. You could also try creating a garden journal to keep a record of their gardening journey, sitting down together to write and draw what they see happening in the garden. You can also take photos to add to your journal,” adds John.

The For Kids! range of products is available online from MowerMagic.co.uk, and prices range between £10.00 and £255.00.
