Five Lincolnshire care workers have received recognition for a combined 85 years of caring for older people in the region.
Patchett Lodge in Holbeach, managed by The Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT), hosted an awards presentation on Thursday 18 March, where David Storr, Rachel Miller, Hilary Noakes, Anne Wynne and Lynne Woodhouse were presented with long-service awards from County Care Manager, Beth Harding, for their dedication, commitment and enthusiasm to the care of older people.
Lynne Woodhouse celebrated 35 years of service at Patchett Lodge on 24 March. Lynne has worked at the home since leaving school and took on the role as Care Leader in 1992.
Anne Wynne, Relief Activities Coordinator, accepted an award for 25 years of service. Anne started out as a care assistant and has enjoyed working in many different roles at the care home over the years. Anne is also Chairperson of the Comfort Fund, which provides extra treats for the residents at Christmas, Easter and birthdays and manages all the fundraising within the home.
Night Care Assistant, and mother of young children, Rachel Miller and Hilary Noakes, Care Assistant, were both rewarded for 10 years of service. Hilary helps out in all areas of the home and is closely involved with the Comfort Fund.
Relief Driver and Escort, David Storr, accepted a five years of service award. A former driver for Lincolnshire Police, David transports residents from the home on outings and hospital appointments and has also taken staff and residents from homes across the county to Walsingham for the Order of Malta Pilgrimage.
Martin Greener, County Director Lincolnshire, for OSJCT, said: “The awards ceremony was a fantastic opportunity for colleagues, residents and friends at Patchett Lodge to come together and celebrate the hard work shown by our team and say a big thank you to all of our staff.
“We are extremely proud of the high standards of care we provide and recognise that this is down to the dedication shown by everyone who works at our care homes across Lincolnshire.”
Patchett Lodge will also host an open day on Friday 16 April, where local people will be invited to visit the care home.
Sue Gardner, Care Home Manager at Patchett Lodge said: “We are urging people from the region to take this opportunity to visit Patchett Lodge and find out about this hidden asset in their community. Staff will be on hand to show visitors around the home and answer any questions they may have. There will be crafts and photographs displays as well as various activities that the residents will be taking part in. Visitors will also get the chance to chat to residents to learn more about life at Patchett Lodge.”
The open day takes place from 1pm until 4pm, with buffet refreshments available during the event. Anyone interested in visiting should contact Sue Gardener at Patchett Lodge on 01406 422012 or the OSJCT’s Lincolnshire County Office team on 01522 813111.
