Site-Net, the Remote Office Communication System for construction sites, has announced further development work on the system which will see it offer CCTV and VOIP (voice over internet protocol) features, enabling users to make telephone calls over the internet.
Development work will start in the new year on the ambitious plans, which will see Site-Net develop into one of the most sophisticated communications tools available for construction companies.
As well as offering wireless internet access for construction sites, an enterprise grade firewall, anti-virus and anti-span features, Site-Net will also offer increased physical site security and cost saving telephony services when the new features are incorporated into the package.
Vandalism and theft are serious problems for building sites overnight but by connecting CCTV cameras to the Site-Net box, real time footage can be streamed on the internet allowing 24/7 remote monitoring.
Running in parallel with the security enhancements is the incorporation of voice over internet protocol telephony. In a similar way to the Skype system, Site-Net is looking at offering low or no cost telephony services over the internet.
An Uninterruptible Power Supply will also be built into the system to provide continuous operation during times of power cuts and spikes.
“We designed the Site-Net system around the internet and connectivity needs of construction companies,” says Site-Net’s Jon McLachlan. “We received a lot of feedback about how important internet access was for people working on site and started from there.
“We also had many people say that they would like to be able to monitor their sites from a remote location, so have begun to develop a way in which we can stream live footage from a site over the internet to improve security. We were also asked whether or not we could introduce Skype like phone services to save our clients money. Again, this is something we’ve considered and believe we can introduce.”
