PPE RANGE INCREASED AT SPALDINGS

Posted in Spaldings on December 19th, 2007

The challenge of providing high quality and hard wearing personal protective equipment is more than being met by Spaldings with its latest additions to their PPE range.  The UK’s leading supplier of groundcare replacement parts, tools and accessories to has extended its range of protective gloves and footwear to give an even more comprehensive choice of protection to now cover virtually any groundcare task. Whether the job is handling oils, chemicals or greasy machinery, or simply needing protection in cold conditions, the additions to the glove range will provide the answer. The four types of glove added all meet EN388 standards and all feature excellent grip for safe and secure handling.  The Reflex N (EN388 4142) has a seamless cotton/polyamide liner with a flexible nitrile coating, offering excellent resistance to oils and chemicals, and is ideal for operators worried about latex allergies. The Reflex N is recommended for general handling and offers excellent puncture and abrasion resistance. A 65cm long Nitrile sleeve (EN388 4111) has been added which is an anti-bacterial cotton liner dipped in an extremely thin layer of nitrile to offer excellent oil, chemical and abrasion resistance whilst at the same time allowing for precise handling and optimal dexterity. This extremely robust sleeve is both comfortable and supple and its roughened finish provides a really secure grip. In addition the opening of the sleeve is elasticated ensuring it remains securely in position during use. Working outdoors in the cold weather requires a special kind of glove and the Showa Thermo (EN388 2241), with its insulating acrylic/ cotton/ polyester triple liner combines real warmth with surprising dexterity. Lightweight, the Thermo has a natural rubber rough-finished coating on the palm and fingertips to facilitate grip and the back of the hand is ventilated to reduce perspiration. This glove is highly recommended for general outdoor work, particularly in cold weather. The Palm Fit (EN388 3131) has been designed for people who are working continuously on precision tasks such as engine and machine maintenance, and the gloves are considerably more durable, protective and comfortable than the disposable gloves which are typically used for those types of applications. The gloves have a seamless lightweight black nylon liner with an ultra-thin grey microporous polyurethane-coating which protects from small nicks and cuts, whilst eliminating perspiration (a real problem with disposable gloves) and offering superb user comfort. Only the palm and fingertips are coated ensuring maximum freedom of movement is retained. Ideal for mechanics or those handling greasy parts. A choice of stylish protective footwear, certified to EN ISO 20345:2004, comes in the shape of the S1P Steelite Hiker Boot and the S1P Steelite Safety Trainer. Both feature a steel toecap and midsole and dual density PU/TPU anti-slip soles. Anti-static and resistant to petrol and chemicals, the fabric is suede leather, making the Steelite footwear fashionable and lightweight yet offering optimum protection. Spaldings’ Groundcare Marketing Manager, Jonathan Rigby said: “The range of PPE offered by Spaldings is currently well received and the additional gloves and footwear will further enhance our reputation for providing quality products at a highly competitive price, combined with our quick delivery and excellent customer service.” For more information about Spaldings’ new range of PPE, visit www.spaldings.co.uk, call 01522 507500 or email gcsales@spaldings.co.uk -ENDS- Issued on behalf of Spaldings by Lava.
