Stormsaver Helps Sainsbury’s Save Rainwater

Posted in Stormsaver on November 16th, 2009

Stormsaver, the UK’s leading manufacturer of rainwater harvesting systems, has won another new contract with one of the UK’s biggest supermarket retailers.

Construction of Sainsbury’s store at Westhoughton in Bolton began in August and will, when complete, feature a Stormsaver rainwater harvesting system in a bid to create one of the greenest stores in the North West.

Stormsaver’s 20,000 litre storage underground tank will provide water for the store’s WCs.

Capturing an estimated 3,704 m3 of rainwater from the 4,200 m2 roof area per annum, Stormsaver’s innovative COMBI-system will save Sainsbury’s just over £1,946 on its annual mains water bill.

As well as the Stormsaver system, the store will also feature a biomass boiler and, subject to planning permission, an ORC (organic ranking cycle) to create a combined heat and power system.
